چکیده

An effective wavefunction for the edge excitations in the Fractional quantum Hall effect can be found by dimensionally reducing the bulk wavefunction. Treated this way the Laughlin ν = 1/(2n+1) wavefunction yields a Luttinger model ground state. We identify the edge-electron field with a Luttinger hyper-fermion operator, and the edge electron itself with a non-backscattering Bogoliubov quasi-particle. The edge-electron propagator may be calculated directly from the effective wavefunction using the properties of a onedimensional one-component plasma, provided a prescription is adopted which is sensitive to the extra flux attached to the electrons. † Permanent Address: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Loomis Laboratory of Physics, 1110 W. We simulated the fourier transform of the correlation function of the Ising model in two and three dimensions using a single cluster algorithm with improved estimators. The simulations are in agreement with series expansion and the available exact results in d = 2, which shows, that the cluster algorithm can succesfully be applied for correlations. We show as a further result that our data do n...

We find the Laughlin states of the electrons on the Poincare half-plane in different representations. In each case we show that there exist a quantum group su q (2) symmetry such that the Laughlin states are a representation of it. We calculate the corresponding filling factor by using the plasma analogy of the FQHE.

Making use of symmetry properties and known exact results for the Hubbard Model on bipartite lattice, we show that (1) there is no phase separation for repulsive coupling at low dopings, (2) phase separation and superconductivity co-exist in the ground states for attractive coupling in a range of filling fractions.
